The Mottle Wolfe Show on Voice of Israel
VOI’s Mottle Wolfe is joined by Jerusalem City Council member Laura Wharton, who spearheaded the campaign to remove signs in ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods demanding that women dress modestly. As a result of her campaign, the Jerusalem Municipality announced yesterday that it will be removing the signs.
Then, Mottle challenges controversial comments made by well-known politically conservative Orthodox rabbi, Daniel Lapin, during an appearance on the Family Research Council’s “Washington Watch” program. Lapin asserted that liberals are sexually attracted to the “the masculine strength and brutality of Islam.”
Then, Mottle talks to activist Alden Solovy from the emergency room where he is being treated for injuries sustained in a scuffle today at the Western Wall. The chaos erupted during the monthly ‘Rosh Chodesh’ prayer service held by the group “Women of the Wall” (whom Solovyn supports),when ultra-Orthodox men tried to prevent women from reading from the Torah.
Finally, Mottle spoke with Peace Now chairman Yariv Oppenheimer, a fierce opponent of Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank), who is currently doing his IDF reserve duty — protecting settlements in Samaria. Oppenheimer says that it is his duty to serve the country, even when it goes against his ideology.
Vacation is a time for insights. Mottle shares his personal reflections of what he is trying to do with The Mottle Wolfe Show, also Mottle ‘goes Kabbalistic’ explaining the special time of year between Passover and Shavuot. Mottle is also then joined by alternative peace activist Yehuda HaKohen to talk about on Campus Israel activism and how it could be much, much better.
Has the time come to stop refraining from eating Kitniyot (legumes) on Passover? Traditionally, Jews of European decent do not eat legumes during the holiday. Rabbi David Bar-Hayim joins VOI’s Mottle Wolfe in-studio to explain the origins of this custom and why it may no longer be relevant.
Was Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu telling the truth when he said a Palestinian State will not be created on his watch? VOI’s Mottle Wolfe is joined in-studio by Yishai Fleisher to discuss post-election realities. Issues they discuss are the fact that the majority of Israelis supports Netanyahu’s vision; that the two-state solution is dead; and that neither international pressure nor BDS is going to change that.
VOI’s Mottle Wolfe is joined in-studio by Jeff Daube, Israel director of the Zionist Organization of America, to discuss issues surrounding Tuesday’s Knesset elections.
Then, Mottle takes listeners’ calls and asks whom they are voting for and why. The answers represent the whole spectrum of the electoral population.
